    Understanding How Fyndo Works

Fyndo connects people who have lost items with people who have found them. No money changes hands on our platform. No Fyndo team member will ever contact you directly to help retrieve an item. All connections happen between users — which means staying alert and following these guidelines keeps everyone safe.

    Reporting a Lost Item

    • Only share details that describe the item — category, location, date, and a description. Do not post photos that reveal your home address, workplace, or daily routine.
    • Do not include your phone number or email in your public post. Fyndo keeps your contact private until you choose to share it.
    • The more accurate your description, the easier it is for a genuine finder to connect with you.

    Reporting a Found Item

    • Photograph the item clearly, but avoid including your surroundings in the photo if they reveal your location.
    • Set 2–3 ownership verification questions that only the true owner would know. Good questions are specific: "What is engraved on the back?" or "What colour is the case?" Avoid yes/no questions.
    • You are in control. Do not share your contact details with anyone who cannot correctly answer your verification questions.
    • You may ask for additional proof — a photo of a matching receipt, an old photo with the item, or a screenshot of a purchase confirmation.

    Claiming an Item

    • Answer the finder's ownership questions honestly and in detail. Providing a clear description of your item is the best proof of ownership.
    • If the finder asks for additional proof (photos, receipts), cooperate — it protects both of you.
    • Never pay anyone to get your item back. Fyndo does not charge for reunions, and no genuine finder will demand payment as a condition of return.
    • If someone asks you to pay before sharing the item, stop all contact and report them immediately.

    Before You Connect via WhatsApp

When you share your WhatsApp number, the conversation has started — but your item has not been returned yet. Use the WhatsApp conversation to verify before you agree to meet.

    • Ask for a photo of the item on WhatsApp first. A genuine finder will have the item. A scammer will not. This is the single most effective way to spot a fake claim.
    • You are not obligated to meet anyone just because you connected on WhatsApp. If anything feels wrong during the conversation, trust your instincts, end the conversation, and report it to us.
    • For high-value items, ask for additional proof — an old photo of the item, a purchase receipt, or a confirmation screenshot — before agreeing to meet.
    • Never agree to pay a "finder's fee" before you have your item in hand. No genuine finder will make payment a condition of return.
    • Never share your home address, workplace, or daily routine with someone you met through Fyndo.

    Planning a Meetup

    • Always meet in a busy, public place — a cafe, mall, metro station, or any Fyndo Safe Spot near you.
    • Never meet at your home, the other person's home, or any private location.
    • Bring a friend or family member if possible, especially for high-value items.
    • Inform someone you trust about where you are going and when to expect you back.
    • Meet during daylight hours when possible.
    • If at any point during the meetup you feel unsafe, leave immediately. Your safety comes first.

    Safe Meeting Places in Pune

Choose a busy, public location when meeting to exchange an item. These are well-lit, staffed, and safe.

Malls — best option (security + CCTV)

    • Phoenix Marketcity, Viman Nagar
    • Amanora Mall, Hadapsar
    • Seasons Mall, Magarpatta
    • Westend Mall, Aundh
    • Kumar Pacific Mall, Camp

Metro Stations — quick and public

    • Shivajinagar Metro Station
    • Civil Court Metro Station
    • Pimpri Metro Station

Police Stations — best for high-value items

    • Your nearest local police station. Staff can witness the exchange — safest option for phones, jewellery, wallets with cash, or documents.

    Cafés — multiple Pune locations

    • McDonald's, Café Coffee Day, or Starbucks — busy, indoors, easy to reach.

    When to meet

Meet between 10am and 7pm, any day. Weekday afternoons and weekend late mornings are ideal. Avoid after 8pm or before 9am.

    Where never to meet

    • Private homes — yours or theirs
    • Parking lots or basements, especially alone
    • Isolated parks or gardens after sunset
    • Unknown addresses sent over WhatsApp
    • Anywhere you cannot leave freely if you feel unsafe

    What to Never Share

Never share the following with anyone you meet through Fyndo:

    • Your Aadhaar number, PAN card, or any government ID
    • Your bank account details, UPI ID, or financial information
    • Your home address or workplace address
    • Passwords, OTPs, or any login credentials
    • Any money or payment of any kind

    What Fyndo Will Never Do

    • Fyndo will never call or message you asking for payment to facilitate a return
    • Fyndo will never ask for your Aadhaar, bank details, or passwords
    • Fyndo will never guarantee that your item will be found
    • Fyndo will never ask you to meet someone in a private or isolated location

If anyone claims to be from Fyndo and asks for any of the above, it is a scam. Report it immediately to hello.fyndo@gmail.com.

    Reporting Suspicious Behaviour

If a user is making false claims, demanding payment, behaving aggressively, or making you uncomfortable in any way, stop the interaction and report it to us at hello.fyndo@gmail.com with:

    • The post or claim involved
    • A brief description of what happened
    • Any screenshots if available

We take all reports seriously and will act swiftly.

    For Drop-Off Point Partners

    • Do not open bags, wallets, or sealed items beyond identifying the general item type.
    • Do not share item details with anyone other than verified claimants and the Fyndo team.
    • If a received item contains cash, valuables, or sensitive documents, notify Fyndo immediately before accepting.
    • Always ask claimants to present a government-issued ID matching the details they submitted in their claim.
    • In case of a disputed claim, do not hand over the item — contact Fyndo and we will assist with verification.
